West Indies vs India Test Series Preview

Tomorrow marks the beginning of  Two Test Match Series between West Indies and India. This will be first test for both the teams under the newly implemented Test championhips by International Cricket Council (ICC). Currently Sri Lankan Cricket team is leading the points table in the early stages after defeating New Zealand (NZ). Coming back to India tour of West Indies, Indian team has been in tremendous form in this tour by winning all the completed matches in T20 Series and later in ODIs as well. Both the teams will be looking to start there Test Championship campaign on a winning note, so one can expect tough competition between the two teams.

Team Selection has been interesting on part of West Indies as they have included two debutants for the Series against India in way of off spinner Rakheem Cornwall and young Shamarh Brooks. Still West Indies team is quite a formidable one with the ones of Shai Hope, Shemron Hetmeyer, Darren Bravo and Kemar Roach. On the other hand India has called back for service of Indian fast bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah who was left out of T20s and ODIs for managing is workload after the World Cup where the bowler had claimed 18 Wickets. Along with Bumrah, Ajinkya Rahane is also back with point to prove and get back into the groove for Indian Team in all formats. It will be interesting to see whom India will field as specialist Wicket Keeper as Wriddhiman Saha who is coming back from injury is also included in squad along with Rishabh Pant. Indian team also has headache for good as the slot for opening batsman also is up for grabs in between Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul & Mayank Agarwal who impressed one and all with his fearless batting in Australia when Shikhar Dhawan was out due to injury. In bowling department Virat Kohli will have plenty to think about as Jasprit Bumrah will be obvious pick along with Mohammad Shami, Ishant Sharma & Umesh Yadav for other pace bowler to company Bumrah in fast bowling department, whereas spin department is also having tough competition with Kuldeep Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin & Ravindra Jadeja in the squad. Navdeep Saini has been asked to stay back in West Indies as a back up fast bowler, who has impressed everyone with his pace.

Even though head to head record still shows that West Indies have an upper hand over Indian Cricket Team but Indian Team have not lost against West Indies in last 17 Years and won 7 out of 10 test matches in last 8years.

Head to Head
Matches Played 96
India Won 20
West Indies Won 30

Good thing for Indian team is in-form Captain Virat Kohli & Cheteshawar Pujara who already scored a century in practice match against West Indies A and has showed one and all that he has carried his form in Australia. Rohit Sharma has also show his contendership for team by gritty half century in practice game, will Rohit Sharma be in team tomorrow? Would like to know your opinion on the same in comments below. On the other hand the addition of the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma in the pace bowling department along with Ravichandran Ashwin in spin department India team looks all set to clinch this series as well.

Editor Prediction: 0-2 in India’s favor.
